The collective participation of Italian companies in Lisderevmash, held in Kiev from 25 to 29 September 2007, was organized by Ice-Acimall.
The Italian pavilion covered a 99 square meter area, with small information desks for each company and an institutional area for Ice-Acimall.
Twelve companies made up “Sistema Italia”: A. Costa Righi, Angelo Cremona, Baschild, Bfb, Coral, De Nardi, Fasco, Garniga, Gmc Service, Itales, Pagnoni Impianti and Storti.
This national exhibition in Ukraine is officially endorsed by Eumabois. Since 2004 it has been held every two years, taking turns with Primus-Derevoobrabotka, a similar event in terms of size, exhibition offer and visitor figures. Lisderevmash 2007 covered about 6,500 net square meters including indoor areas (Hall 3) and outdoor areas (about 800 square meters in front of the main entrance). As compared to Primus-Derevoobrabotka in 2006, the total area seems to have slightly reduced.
Open to all wood and furniture segments, from primary operation equipment and tools (in the outdoor area), to panel and solid wood processing, up to finishing operations, the show was a comprehensive review of technology.
About 300 exhibitors registered officially, including direct and represented companies. All leading machine and tool importers were present: Bjuro-M and the Kiev subsidiary Abc 2000 (Scm Group and more leading Italian brands like Omga, Ormamacchine), Marketlis (Homag and Altendorf), the Michael Weinig subsidiary, Stankodnepr (Biesse Group, Griggio and other Italian brands), Dios, Tecnocom, Cdt (Woodworking technology centre), Intexservice, Freud, Imac (a retailer with a branch in Poland), Mwm (Chinese and Taiwanese brands).
All local manufacturers also attended: sawmill lines, blades and tools, traditional equipment, parquet lines.
Good visitor attendance rates in three out of five days. With still no official figures, we can estimate about 10,000 visitors. They were basically local representatives of the furniture and construction industry in Ukraine, plus the leskombinat (woodworking centers where the state still has a majority share).
In the former Soviet bloc, Ukraine surely represents the most important market after Russia in terms of size and growth potential.
The leading supplier has always been Germany with 2006 sales worth 20 million Euros (+28.7 percent), followed by Italy with 13.6 million Euros (+19.5 percent). China has recorded a 175.7 percent export growth, jumping to position number three. Turkey, Austria, Spain and the Czech Republic follow. A special mention goes to Poland which, with 32.5 million Euro export (+54.6 percent) is actually the top supplier country.
In the first six months of 2007, excellent performance was recorded by Italian manufacturers, who sold technology for a total value of 7.5 million Euros, scoring a 33.9% increase over the same period of 2006.
