Zow Pordenone: first among equals?

Over 20 thousand visitors, including 6,500 from abroad. 712 exhibitors, including 170 international companies. The concept created by Carlo Giobbi has definitely put the Pordenone fair among the top international events

“What we like to point out in this respect is that the image of Zow Pordenone at international level has increased in the past few years:we attend all leading industry exhibitions and we maintain close relationships with our exhibitors, allowing us to monitor their needs and work to meet their expectations. They are the same exhibitors that, all around the world, meet us and are happy to talk with us, they give us a picture of the market and basically show us the direction to take.”
This is a statement by Carlo Giobbi, which we read in the press releases distributed during the event in Pordenone, last October 17 to 20. This seventh edition represented a new, strong confirmation, thanks to the evidence that international visitors attend this “local event” in significant numbers. The statement by Giobbi explains the reasons for this interest, although we also think that his and his team’s efforts to ensure the success of Italian Zow was favored by some “lack” of competitors. Interzum recovered with the 2006 event from a really difficult period, and for Sasmil, we will see what comes with the incorporation into the big showcase of Made, scheduled in Milan in February.
All too often, when you talk about Zow, everyone is looking for explanations, theories and suppositions. But again, the truth is quite simple: the prize goes to the first one who given companies what they need.

EXHIBITORS
And what a prize! This year, in the halls of the Pordenone fair that is struggling to keep up with the expansion of Zow, there were 712 espositori, including 170 foreign companies from 31 countries. As usual (like all industry exhibitions), Germany took the lion’s share with 68 companies, followed by Austria (18 exhibitors) and twelve companies each from Spain and Romania. All of them offered a complete and varied spectrum of products: from furniture doors to taps, from technical lighting to leather ware, from hardware to chemical products. All 32 thousand square meters available were taken, including “Hall 10”, a 2,000 square meter facility attached in record time to Hall 9 to meet the huge demand of exhibition area.
Excellent figures (that will be even more significant when we talk about visitors in a while) have driven ZOW’s creator, Peter Meyer, to state proudly – before the press – that the Italian experience, started in 2001, has recorded an extraordinary trend from all points of view, obtaining the acknowledgment of “the best of all Zows” that are organized in the world and that will increase in the future, with a second show in China and a new event in Turkey in February 2008.

VISITORS
Clear success also on the visitors’ side. The final press release writes that Zow Pordenone “… has closed well above the threshold of 20 thousand visitors, with a 9 percent increase of registered visitors as compared to the previous edition. It is very interesting to stress the international scope of the exhibition, which hosted 6,500 international operators from 92 countries (15 percent increase in the rate of international visitors):their presence represented about 32 percent of total registrations, marking a 42 percent increase as compared to international attendance in the previous edition”.
