Ciba (www.ciba.com), a leading global company based in Switzerland and dedicated to producing high-value effects, has presented its latest news with the new series of pigments at Eurocoat 2007, the exhibition held in Genoa from 6 to 8 november.
Amongst a host of novelties, special highlights has been “Ciba Xymara” stylings designed to add sparkle, shimmer and shading to wood with an extended range of color options for metallic and pearlescent effects. The attainable effects range from a discreet pearlescent finish that enhances and emphasizes the grain to a variety of bold, sparkling color effects. The new color trend handbook “Color evolution wood” features the stylings and allows experimentation with the different effects. Further effects to be presented are the latest additions to the “Ciba Metasheen” range of vacuum‑metalized pigments, which deliver exceptionally high, mirror‑like brilliance in metallic coating.
Amongst the new products that extend the attainable color space are “Ciba Unisperse”, ultra aqueous pigment dispersions for architectural coatings, developed to meet the increasingly high durability standards required in today’s exterior paint market.
A further innovation that allows original new colors to be created is latest‑generation diketo-pyrrolo-pyrrole (Dpp) pigment “Ciba Irgazin Dpp Cosmoray Orange”. With its pure, bright orange shade, this pigment widens design scope, enabling the creation of new shades and styles in the orange sector and especially in the red, where it can be used to produce a yellow shift. Products that help customers enhance performance and facilitate processing include a range of pigment dispersants made by controlled free radical polymerization (Cfrp). This technology provides new options for optimizing the polymer structures of pigment dispersants. The latest addition to the range, “Ciba Efka 4585”, is the first dispersant made by Cfrp for water-based applications.
Amongst numerous innovations designed for improved environmental sustainability, Ciba has developed a Novel encapsulated additives technology (Neat) that allows a previously unattained standard of coatings stabilization in waterborne applications, combining increased durability with simple incorporation.
