As mentioned in the editorial opening this issue of Xylon International, the owners of Balestrini Renzo spa from Seveso (Milan) and MZ Project from Mariano Comense (Como) have announced their merger.
Balestrini Renzo, founded in 1954 by the father of the current managers, and MZ Project, founded in 1987 by its present owners, are global leaders in the production of solid wood machinery and plants.
The new company arising from the merger will be named Sphera System srl, officially active as of 1 January 2008 in the large and modern site in Seveso, with about 70 employees.
The machines manufactured by Sphera System will be marketed under the two historical brands, who will still approach the market with their established values of history, technology, quality and expertise.
Sphera System will stand out as a unique partner for operations to produce semifinished parts from raw material, up to the creation of finished products.
Distribution will be strengthened through wider market coverage in all continents and the synergy between the sales networks of the two companies.
By integrating the experience of both companies, Sphera System will serve the solid woodworking market with a wider range of equipment and will be able to approach new segments with a stronger impact, including composite materials, alloyed aluminum, plastics and others.
The five owners of the new company will also be the five key players in management and operations: they are Alvaro Mazzola, Armando Zappa, Antonio, Elio and Rosalinda Balestrini, the latter taking the role of managing director.
