All news about Legno&Edilizia 2011

Wood floors are a natural inclusion to the application of wood in prestigious finishing, coherent with the content of Legno&Edilizia (Wood&Building), the International trade fair on the use of wood in construction. It is a type of flooring that is more than ever in demand, and enjoys a special, growing appeal among the public. People love wood, with its warm elegance, and consider it an environmentally friendly raw material.
The 7th edition of Legno&Ediliziawill be held  in Verona from March 17 to 20, 2011, on an area of 20,000 sqare meters, 250 producers from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland will present the latest innovations.
In addition to producers in the sectors related to wood that habitually exhibit at Legno&Edilizia (load-bearing structures and wood houses, carpentry, lumber, staircases and paneling, unfinished materials, machinery and machine tools offered also in the sphere of practical demonstrations), this edition will also include producers of wood flooring and products functional to the processing and finishing of wood floors. A special dedicated area will exhibit these products to professionally qualified visitors, especially distributors and professional installers, Italian and European interior designers, as well as some from Eastern Europe and the Baltic States.

During the annual Fep Congress (European federation of wood floor producers) held last May, the data relative to performance of the sector in 2009 were announced. The numbers told the story of a difficult situation in which, after years of growth, Europe reported a reduction by -20 percent in its total production, and -15 percent with respect to consumption. The message conveyed by the Fep was not all negative, however, because the meeting highlighted the fact that in thelast few months, in some countries, the demand for wood flooring has started to grow again.
In 2009 the Italian market showed the same negative performance as the rest of Europe due to the halt of new construction and the fall in consumption: -34.48 percent (3,800,000 square meters total), -25 percent in terms of consumption (about 9,600,000 square meters.) Per capita production was down from 0.10 to 0.06 square meters, per capita consumption from 0.21 to 0.16 square meters.
The most widely used hardwood species was oak (70 percent) while in 2008 tropical species were preferred (60 percent). With regard to the types, there was an increase in the demand for engineered wood: consumption of solid hardwood (14-22 mm) and lamparquet (6-13 mm) was down by half, in favour of prefinished types.
The situation is still critical, but the worst of the crisis seems to be past.
We can look with cautious optimism toward 2011 and work to promote the advantages of wood flooring to the utmost, as a product that has become more popular than ever, also because it is made of a raw material that satisfies criteria of sustainability and is included in the specifications of organic construction.

With regard to machinery and tools, Legno&Edilizia showcases the most sophisticated news in the world of construction, structural wood flooring, with technical solutions offering high performance at low cost. Moreover technologies that solve and optimize the techniques and timing of woodworking.
The list of exhibitors of machines is rich and exhaustive and will help to cover a significant proportion of 20 thousand square meters designed to host over 250 companies of the wood from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
Today, the techniques are more complex and have to ensure flawless production from a qualitative and also legal professionals asked with increasing frequency solutions that are specific to enable flexible production and often very specific.
For this, some spaces are dedicated to the machinery sector designed to allow maximum visibility for the technology and equipment on display, suited to facilitate their examination by trained and discerning visitors.
The areas available for technologies of wood processing will house cnc machining, various equipment, operating units for various applications, including mobile and fixed sawmill equipment, machines for processing of X-lam panels, work centers cnc machining of the beams, centers for beams and walls, plants, assembly lines, handling solutions and logistics, machine tools and accessories for fixing and finishing of the surface treatment, specialized software and more yet.
Interested visitors will have the opportunity to observe the machines at work, engaged in the practical demonstration of the production cycle.
Among the major events planned, there will be a conference dedicated to “X-lam the new frontier of development in wood manufacturing technology”.
