When the Koelnmesse trade fair opens its doors from 13 to 16 May 2013, the international supplier industry for the furniture and interior decorating industries will meet once again at the “interzum cologne”. Over an area of more than 155,000 square metres, around 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world will present visions for designing future living spaces and inspire product developers, designers and architects worldwide. Their goods are the key to the trends of tomorrow.
The companies presenting their selection of materials, locks, light systems and much more include numerous participants in the “interzum award: intelligent material & design 2013”. With their product innovations and refinements, they faced the international comparison and proved their expertise
The competition, which is being organised by Koelnmesse in cooperation with red dot already for the seventh time, received a total of 200 entries from 16 countries in 2013. There were three different categories in which products could be submitted: from Materials and surfaces to Fittings, glass and lighting to Upholstery manufacture and bedding, there was great demand for innovative designs for the furniture industry and interior decorating.
This year, the jury of renowned experts awarded the “High Product Quality” award for special design achievements in form and function to 42 entries. Only nine products won the “Best of the Best” title which recognises excellent design achievements whose form and function set new standards in their industry. This sought-after prize is reserved for ground-breaking designs – only the best products.
The specific goal of the “interzum award: intelligent material & design” is to put a spotlight on features such as innovative design, intelligent details, aesthetics and functionality. Nine manufacturers succeeded in realising precisely these aspects with their prize-winning products: acrylic couture® GbR, Richter Furniertechnik GmbH & Co. KG and k + r Sax GmbH from Germany, Fritz Egger GmbH & Co. OG from Austria in cooperation with the German akustik plus GmbH & Co. KG as well as the Suisse manufacturers EKU AG and Lamello AG. In addition, WO Interior A/S from Denmark, Italiana Ferramenta srl from Italy and Belgian manufacturer Indurub NV secured the top award in the competition with their products.
The proud laureates will be celebrated on 12 May 2013. That is when manufacturers, designers and marketing decision makers will converge at the Koelnmesse site to celebrate the high point of this year’s competition together at the interzum party. The awards ceremony marks the start of interzum cologne 2013.
All prize-winning designs will be presented to the public in a special exhibition as part of the leading global trade fair. In this way, Koelnmesse is highlighting the significance of design as an engine of innovation. The winners of the “Best of the Best” category will be displayed on the fair’s boulevard in a walk-in
square. In addition, the awarded products will be presented in the online exhibition at www.interzum-award.com.
