Scm at Dach+Holz

Only a few days until the start of “Dach+Holz”, the number one international trade fair for the timber construction industry, due to be held in Stuttgart (Germany) from 28 to 31 January 2020. Once again this year, the Scm stand is predicted to be one of the key attractions at the event, thanks to new technologies which will be presented in relation to the range of Cnc machining centres for carpentry.

For a fast growing industry in Europe and the rest of the world, both in the sector’s more soundly established markets as well as emerging ones, the use of innovative technological solutions nowadays is increasingly more decisive, in line with market demands. As the Business Unit Manager of the Scm machining centres for timber construction, Tommaso Martini points out, “this is where Scm’s participation slots in, as it aims to present itself a competent partner for all those professionals in the industry who, for various reasons, require technology for machine joinery elements and are looking for a new and different approach to the one they have encountered so far”.
An exclusive approach: Scm is providing its decades of experience in the development and production of highly evolved, flexible machining centres to produce components for timber constructions, thus creating a new standard for the sector.

“OIKOS X”: THE “PLUS” FOR TIMBER CONSTRUCTION

“Oikos X”, the new 6-axis machining centre, specifically designed for timber construction to machine structural beams, X-lam/CLT wall panels and insulation panels will take centre stage at Dach+Holz. It is the result of careful research and development to provide the industry with an ever more technological, performing response.

“Oikos X” was designed with a view to maximising performance in terms of dimensions, dynamics and power. Fitted with a 13 kW electro-spindle, the machining centre allows for the processing of beams and panels with a maximum section of 1,250×300 mm and maximum length of 19,000 mm, with an end weight of 4,000 kg.

The Oikos X on display at the trade fair will have two important new features:

  • the 24 kW electro-spindle that optimises the machine’s performance in terms of the removal of material thus increasing overall productivity considerably;
  • the automatic loading and unloading management of rounded beams, undoubtedly the best choice for those looking to focus on applications such as the construction of elements for garden play equipment and street furniture.

The new machining centre is in perfect harmony with the needs of the 4.0 factory; the “Maestro beam&wall” software ensures complete integration with the most commonly used Cad systems in the industry; the multi-function, multi-touch “eye-M” operator panel makes everyday work much easier; the video-surveillance system means the entire process can be monitored in real time and integrated with Smartech glasses which place an Scm expert at the client’s side, at any time, no matter where they are in the world, thanks to augmented reality technology.

MARKET AND TRENDS
Dach+Holz International 2020 comes at a boom time for the industry. “The market is experiencing a steep growth period and expectations are high for the coming years – points out Tommaso Martini -. The Clt market is currently enjoying a period of considerable expansion both in countries where this technology is already firmly established, like Austria and Germany, as well as those countries in Europe and the rest of the world which are only now discovering this new construction method”.

“Scm has always believed and invested considerably in the German market – says Martini – and we’ve seen good results, and will see even better results in the future, thanks to the experience we’ve gained installing a multitude of systems which have become acclaimed technological success stories. The road has not been easy but the mix between professionalism and innovative technological solutions has produced excellent results, which will allow us to consolidate our position also in markets that have until now considered only the German models when choosing where to invest.”

2019 was a key year for Scm. “We can feel very proud – continues Martini – of both the launch of new timber construction products, like “Oikos X”, and the excellent quality of projects developed for our clients, working in close contact with them and listening carefully to their demands. The outcome is most definitely positive and beyond our expectations and we are confident that 2020 will be another decisive year for us”.
