- How are you reacting to this emergency?
“Lots of our workers often travels around the globe, for commercial and technical task; therefore, we had to respond rapidly to the increasing limitation caused by the virus. As far as our internal organization, being used to work abroad, we already had the tools for smart working, the effort is towards suppliers and customers, with the relationships now restricted to remote communication. Of course, this experience exists only with a rapid re-opening of the industrial and commercial activities, being Stemas a manufacturer of special woodworking machinery”.
- What do you think is changing or will change radically?
“We’ve found out that we already had the tools for working from home, for many internal activites and to communicate with suppliers and customers; this situation just forced us to get used to them. I personally think that, after all of this, a major trust in ICT would be a positive outcome, factoring in, for example, the sustainability subject. The issue is that we’ve been experiencing it without having a functioning market at the base, with all the activities now stopped”.
- What should the authorities and all of us do?
“After the main goal of the public health, so when the infected figures drop, I think we will gradually recover all social activities, but a shock intervention will be needed to get the economy started, just like a war aftermath. Besides, the timing of the virus is very different across countries, so that we might experience an economy with restricted boundaries in a first phase. We must be ready for these challenges”.
