On May 6 Somec – ship furniture manufacturer based in San Vendemiano, Treviso, with subsidiaries in England, United States, Slovakia, China and Canada – completed the acquisition of the majority of Skillmax, Venetian excellence in turnkey supply and installation of high-end interior furnishings for boutiques, shops, hotels and public spaces.
As stated in the press release of the company “Somec spa – company specializing in the engineering, design and implementation of large turnkey projects in the naval and civil sectors relating to glazed enclosures, special architectural projects, preparation of public areas and catering for big kitchens, listed on Aim Italia – against the occurrence of the conditions precedent foreseen by the investment agreement signed on 19 March 2019, today completed the acquisition of 60 percent of the shares of Skillmax”.
Founded in 2012 by Luca Cerello and Paolo Piovesan, Skillmax is offering a complete range of interior furnishing solutions and managing the whole process, from the preliminary evaluation to the installation, through the prototyping, engineering and industrialization phases.
The production covers all the activities necessary for the realization of complete furnishings (carpentry, painting, carpentry, assembly), thanks to the “artisan skills” of Skillmax’s collaborators, skills that over the years have allowed the birth of prestigious collaborations (Studio Patricia Urquiola, Studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, SkpadD Project Management, Studio Tobia Scarpa, Cristina Celestino, Studio L + L Architetti, Studio Lissoni & Partners and many others).
The headquarters of San Biagio di Callalta (Treviso) occupies a production area of 4,200 square meters, for a production value in 2018 of 9.8 million euros.
Thanks to this operation, Somec group therefore enters the market of bespoke production and installation of high-end interior design projects, with the aim of further developing the already significant experiences in the realization of interiors for public areas of cruise ships.
