Franco Bulian – born in Udine in 1960, married with two sons – is the new Head Director of Catas, the most important European testing laboratory for the wood furniture industry which annually carries out over 50,000 tests in the laboratories of San Giovanni al Natisone (Udine) and Lissone (Monza Brianza).

Bulian joined the Catas chemical department in 1987, assuming some year later the role of deputy director, as well as that of marketing director. He is also a contract professor in the “Materials and Technologies of the Furniture Industry” course at the University of Trieste and author of numerous books and technical publications.
His long militancy in Catas has led him to be active part of its overall activities, as well as direct protagonist in its growth.
“I am really proud to complete my path in Catas with this new and prestigious challenge”, he commented. “I’d like to thank the board of directors and the president Lucia Cristina Piu for their trust and I am sure that together with all the excellent collaborators of Catas, their enthusiasm, their passion and their skills we will be able to achieve new and ambitious goals with the renewed purpose of contribute to improving the safety and performance of the products of this important industrial sector”.
Bulian therefore takes the place of Andrea Giavon, who leaves the institute to enjoy a new season of his life. Giavon received the thanks of the board of directors and of all the employees and collaborators of the institute for the enormous contribution made to the growth of Catas, where he joined very young, in 1984. To greet Giavon, the employees and collaborators of Catas collected a sum that, as a wish of the “past-director” himself, was donated to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine for the “Covid-19” emergency.
