Rehau mourns the passing of Helmut Wagner, founder and honorary president of the company, who died on Sunday 24 January, in Switzerland, at the age of 95, surrounded by his family. The news of the death of the esteemed founder, who was strongly committed to the end, deeply touched Rehau employees around the world.
Helmut Wagner began to shape the world of plastics in 1948, giving important impetus to the entire industry. The founding of the company in the city of Rehau in Upper Franconia, Germany, marks the beginning of the production of products in polymeric materials and the success story of a family business, still strongly characterized by the pioneering spirit of its founder.
After fifty years of successful development and growth of the company, in 2000, Helmut Wagner hands over the management of the Group to his children: Jobst Wagner takes on the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Veit Wagner that of Vice Chairman. The third generation is already active within the company. In 2015, the city council of Rehau awarded special recognition to the founder of Rehau, naming Helmut Wagner an honorary citizen, the first since the end of World War II.
