The general assembly of members of the International Tropical Timber Technical Association (ATIBT) has ratified the vote of the board of directors confirming the election of Françoise Van de Ven as president for the next two years.
For over 70 years, ATIBT has been promoting the sustainable, ethical and legal trade of tropical timber as a natural and renewable raw material, working for the sustainable management of tropical forests and a healthy economy that promotes social development.
Françoise Van de Ven, 64, knows the association and the challenges of the sector, having dedicated most of her professional life to the tropical wood supply chain in Belgium, in the private sector, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, first in the private sector and later as general secretary of the Federation of Timber Processing Companies (FIB), and finally in Gabon, where he assumed the role of general delegate of the Union of Forestry and Wood Industry (UFIGA).
