A new award for innovative solutions in the field of adhesive technology. The customary Jowat Adhesive Research Award, the prize that the adhesives specialist has been bestowing since 1995, was presented to Dennis Meinderink. Meinderink presented a thesis on how sustainable zinc oxide and polyacrylic acid systems can be used to improve adhesion at polymer-metal oxide and polymer-polymer interfaces.
The comprehensive study of the molecular adhesion of polyacrylic acid to nanostructured zinc oxide surfaces and its use in industrial processes, e.g. on hot-dip galvanized steel, represents a “breakthrough in scientific discoveries“, as the company pointed out in the press release issued following the award. “The results of this research provide an important basis for sustainable coatings in composite systems and are therefore of great practical relevance“, added Christian Terfloth, managing director of Jowat.
