Within few weeks, a big flexible packaging line for “batch one” operation will be installed by Wortech, a company that has gone into business only recently, though supported by the solid experience of its founding members, and is increasing its market share in a “lively” segment.
The project arose from the need to complete a production line where furniture parts, all different from each other, are cut, edgebanded and drilled, and then packaged and shipped to their final destination.
“The starting point is the need to protect the components coming from the production department in rapid sequence, up to three packages a minute, possibly all different from each other”, said Tiziano Balestrini, founding member and sales manager of Wortech. “We designed and built this solution to offer the greatest flexibility to customers and adequate speed for their production rates, protecting the panels that get out of the lines. The process and the machines are specifically designed to package any element that is not classified as assembled furniture, panels, furniture kits…”.
The latest line designed and built by the company in Emilia consists of three feeding stations, where the operators prepare the flat parts to be packaged. A shuttle picks the parts from each station and conveys them along the central backbone, where each part is measured in length, width and thickness. The information is sent in real time to the first machine of the line, an “i-Box 4.0” that cuts the cardboard to the dimensions required to make the box. The robot places the element to be packaged onto the carton, which is still “unfolded”, the operators add corners, instruction sheets and other “complements” before the second machine – a “V410 Evolution” – folds the carton into a box, which is finally transferred to the last machine of the line, “C410 Evolution”, which glues and seals the box.
This line can be configured to the needs and preferences of the customer, with variable lengths from 30 to 60 meters. If you don’t need to work at high packaging speeds, each machine can be purchased and operated “standalone”, following the work organization of each company.
