Leuco draws inspiration from Fibonacci

A new distribution of cutting edges on the basic body according to the Fibonacci principle and more news ready to be presented. The year 2023 will be intensive for Leuco, the German cutting tool specialist. A highlight is the new distribution of the cutting edges of Leucos’ tools, based on the Fibonacci sequence.
The Fibonacci principle occurs often in nature, especially when limited space is available”, wrote Leuco in the press release for Ligna 2023. “Our distribution of cutting edges according to the Fibonacci sequence is patent-pending – according to the press release – and we really believe that this bionic approach can enrich and expand our solution portfolio”.

During five days in Hanover, Leuco will show several types of tools, including a Z4+4 nesting cutter with a diameter of 12 mm, the jointing cutters with exchangeable cutting blades “SmartJointer airFace” and Leuco pSystem, and a disk finger cutter. “Benefits vary from customer to customer, but the most important ones include lower consumption with lower power requirements, thinner cuts at high feed speed, and longer tool life”.

Leuco SmartJointer AirFace” is a jointing cutterhead that stands out especially for its diamond-tipped cutters, which can be replaced by the customer onsite, and for diameter consistency after the replacement. In the “SmartJointer airFace” (presented at Ligna in the 125 millimeter diameter version), the innovative cutter layout translates into a fine cutting design  of the narrow face, also with variable panel widths.
Leuco p-System” has a 70-degree cutting ange and offers greater tool resistance even in intensive operations.

At Ligna, Leuco will also present the nesting cutter “Z4+4”, which combines high feed sped with a very thin diameter (12 millimeters). The cutter, with a cutting length of 23 millimeters, is ideal for raw or laminated particleboard. Applications parameters include feed speed from 17 to 22 meters per moinute at 18 rpm, or alternatively, feed speed between 22 and 29 meters per minute at 24 thousand rpm. This cutter with diamod-tipped edges can be resharpened several times.
