Catas – the leading European laboratory for testing, certification and research in the wood and furniture sector – has a new board of directors for the three-year period 2023-2025. The shareholders’ meeting, which took place at the Udine head office of the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce on 26 April, reconfirmed Lucia Cristina Piu as president. She has a degree in legal sciences and in economic and banking sciences and is a manager who has gained important experience in numerous bodies, institutes and companies, as well as being the director of Confapi Friuli Venezia Giulia, a member of the board of the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce, of Confidi Friuli and of Friulia spa.
Lucia Cristina Piu – who, we recall, was and is the first woman at the helm of the most important European testing laboratory for the wood and furniture sector – will be flanked by board members Paola Veronese, who has also been reconfirmed, and Marco Battistutta, Manuela Montina and Alessandro Corazza.
“This is a confirmation that I welcome with satisfaction, confirming the good work that Catas as a whole has carried out in recent years, and with a clear awareness of the importance of the role that the laboratory plays not only for the entire regional economy, but also nationally and internationally,” Lucia Cristina Piu commented.
For Catas, therefore, a new season opens under the sign of continuity, strengthened by the excellent results achieved over the last three years. Indeed, during the shareholders’ meeting, the 2022 financial statement figures were presented, revealing an excellent performance in terms of both production value (over 7 million euros) and profit (over one million euros), as well as the goals achieved. The laboratory, with solid roots in Friuli, is broadening its horizons with its further site in Brianza and the new Catas Point in Pesaro, but above all with a customer portfolio spread not only throughout Europe, but also in other continents, with significant presence in the countries most devoted to furniture production, among which Poland, Hungary, Vietnam and China.
President Piu was immediately congratulated by Giovanni Da Pozzo, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone-Udine, the majority shareholder of Catas, who commented: “The leadership of Catas goes on in an excellent continuity, to consolidate the important goals achieved and to face the next challenges. I wish a good job to Lucia Piu, whose competence and commitment we recognize and appreciate well and we are sure she will be able to lead at best this institute that is among the most relevant testing and certification bodies at national and European level, a reference point for the entire wood-furniture sector and not only. Catas is truly a body that points to the future and has all the credentials in order to be able to seize and manage opportunities, having always looked ahead and having anticipated some of the main trends of innovation and sustainability, which are crucial to face the coming years“.
