Digital Servitization: where do we stand?

MindSphere World Italia announces its first Industry 4.0 Observatory…

MindSphere World Italia – in collaboration with ASAP Service Management Forum – the Inter-University Research Centre on Innovation and Service Management in Industrial Enterprises – is launching “Digital Servitisation in the Machinery Sector“, a survey that aims to take a snapshot of the current situation and future orientations regarding the development of servitisation solutions in the Italian industrial world. In addition, this survey will also measure the degree of awareness of machinery manufacturers on the topic of digital transformation, which has led the most advanced digital solutions to become real services for end users. It is therefore a survey that aims to detect the degree of maturity of industry in our country.

This is an ambitious project that MindSphere World Italia is pursuing in close partnership with Ucima (Union of Italian Manufacturers of Automatic Packaging and Processing Machines), Acimac (Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery and Equipment for Ceramics), Amaplast (National Association of Manufacturers of Machinery and Moulds for Plastics and Rubber), Ucimu (Institute for Sector Research and Studies, a subsidiary of the Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machine Tools, Robots and Automation), Aita (Italian Association of Additive Technologies), Siri (Italian Association of Robotics and Automation) and Acimall (Association of Italian Manufacturers of Woodworking Machinery and Accessories).

Since its beginnings, in fact, MindSphere World has aimed to support the digital transition in Italy, and to create a network of realities for the definition of a collaboration ecosystem capable of making the industry even more competitive on an international scale. The Observatory is thus part of that team and collaboration spirit that has characterised the Association since 2018: ‘The power of many’. MindSphere World Italia, Asap Service Management Forum and the main trade associations supporting the initiative are working together synergically, estimating that together they can reach 70 per cent of the capital goods and robotics market in Italy. The analysis will also make it possible to assess how much companies have invested so far and how much they will invest in services, in digital and in technologies capable of optimising production and making it more efficient, also in terms of sustainability. Last but not least, the results of the survey will enable MindSphere World Italia to offer its members an even broader range of training courses that are more in line with the technological trends in which it is essential to invest.

The first research project of the MindSphere World Italia ecosystem will conclude at the end of the year with the presentation of the results. In December, all companies participating in the Observatory will be invited to the closing event, a unique moment in which to share the analysis of the results – with the valuable contribution of industry experts – and the trending digital strategies at national level. In addition, at the end of the study, all respondents will receive both the full report of the research and a customised paper on the positioning of their company (statistical benchmark) in the current scenario. Participation in the survey is co-ordinated by MindSphere World, ASAP and the other trade associations: the organisers will contact the target companies and make their secretariats available to provide further details.
