Plywood produced in Vietnam is “made in China” and – as such – will be subject to the duties. The US Department of Commerce ratified its decision to impose anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD) on hardwood plywood from Vietnam.
Thirty-seven companies failed to cooperate or respond to the agency’s investigation and the Commerce Department thus ordered US Customs and Border Protection to collect cash deposits from these companies at the Chinese tariffs: 183 per cent for AD and 23 per cent for CVD.
The investigation had begun in 2020, after imports from Vietnam increased following the imposition of anti-dumping and countervailing duties on China.
