The Epr Consortium project conceived and promoted by FederlegnoArredo, together with furniture companies, to deal with the end-of-life of products in the sector is now a reality.
After the official announcement in June at the federation’s annual assembly, the National Furniture System Consortium has been formally established with the first 15 member companies representing a total value of more than two billion euros in turnover. These very days, other important memberships are also being finalized that will expand the pool of founding members.
The Consortium’s goal is to support the industry in the full green transition, enabling companies to be ready for a possible future implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (Epr) by the legislature.
Presiding over it is Claudio Feltrin, president of FederlegnoArredo, who together with Maria Porro, president of FederlegnoArredo’s Assarredo, and Roberto Pompa of Assarredo’s board of directors, make up the board. A steering committee made up of technical and highly specialized figures, in synergy with the companies and the board of directors, contributes to the development and operation of the National Furniture System Consortium.
FederlegnoArredo, together with the furniture companies, thus becomes the interpreter and at the same time the forerunner of an epochal change that the Epr will bring with it, transforming a possible legal obligation into a strategic opportunity. A project that aspires to give a concrete response to a paradigm shift in the concept of extended producer responsibility in waste management.
