Paolo Tirelli
Paolo Tirelli is the new managing director of Catas, the leading European testing laboratory for the wood and furniture sector. A mechanical engineer, born in 1975, he has been with Catas for over twenty years, first as head of the “Mechanical Testing Department” and since 2020 of the entire mechanical area, which also includes the “Finished Products Department” (tests on the safety, resistance and durability of furniture) and the “Fire Department” (reaction to fire of furniture materials and upholstered furniture). Among the Catas experts, Tirelli is also the most involved and present at technical standardization working groups, particularly in the areas of wood, adhesives and panels for the wood and furniture sector.
“Catas has solid foundations, on which we have built over fifty years of history made of competence and credibility”, said Tirelli. “A heritage that is internationally recognized and which we nurture every day thanks to a strong and cohesive team, undoubtedly the greatest value that our company expresses”.
“I can only thank the board of directors for the trust they have placed in me”, concluded the newly appointed director, who then wished to remember and thank “… all the colleagues, managing directors and true “guides” who have preceded me: Angelo Speranza, Andrea Giavon and Franco Bulian, who has accompanied me in this new position; we all owe him a lot and I am sure he will continue to offer the sector his knowledge and long experience”.
Daniele Bergamasco – a chemistry graduate, class of 1977 – was reconfirmed as deputy director. He joined Catas in 2005, where he quickly gained the responsibility for the Formaldehyde Section, a responsibility that from 2020 was extended to the entire “Chemical Department” and to the “Surfaces”, “Microbiology” and “Defects” sections. His experience as a technical inspector for “CQA-Catas Quality Award” product certification and the role he has held for the past five years will allow him to be a reference point in the strategic development of activities related to product certification, one of the pillars on which Catas’ work is based in addition to testing and standardization.
