As part of its commitment to making a wide range of technical guidance and detailed information about American hardwoods crystal clear and easily available, Ahec (the American Hardwood Export Council) has launched its redesigned and updated website (www.americanhardwood.org). The website’s “new look” has been developed in line with feedback from users and structured to meet the “three clicks” benchmark – whatever you need to know, on your screen, via a maximum of three clicks of your mouse.
The significant investment behind the upgrade demonstrates a further move by Ahec to reduce its printed materials and provide download facilities for all its publications, including its key “Species Guide” which was redesigned last year into an “easy read” format. And the development of the site includes much more information about sustainability by independent consultant on sustainability issues, Rupert Oliver.
For European Director David Venables, the website is at the heart of Ahec’s communication strategy. “The best websites provide customers with exactly the information they need when they need it. Trawling through various levels is no longer an option and that principle has pretty much dictated how our website has been and continues to be developed. Of course the investment has been considerable but the value for us is in the continuing reduction of printed materials and our confidence that the website is doing its job effectively as a vital communications channel for our industry.”
The site will be available in 9 languages for use throughout all Ahec’s major world markets.
