13/02/2024

Siempelkamp has announced that it has successfully passed the factory acceptance test on a high-pressure internal moulding press for a US customer, a leading supplier of flow control products for a variety of applications in the US and abroad. The current order,’ explains Siempelkamp, ‘is the second one placed by the customer. This particular project started in 2022. Production of this new press, with a capacity of 7.5 MN vertically and 3 MN horizontally, will start in 2024.

In the hydroforming process, metal tubes or hollow bodies are formed in a closed mould using internal pressure. “Siempelkamp’s hydroforming presses create parts with complex shapes in longitudinal and cross sections. They are used, among other things, in the automotive industry as chassis parts, pipe branch elements, exhaust parts or for lightweight chassis. For this customer in particular, the IHU press is intended for the production of tube sections,’ the company explained in the press release.
