It was held in Vienna on 16 November, the 17th General Assembly of Pefc International, in the presence of 36 national certification schemes, 11 members representing the “international stakeholders” and seven extraordinary members. The vice president of the Pefc Italia, Maria Cristina D’Orlando led the Italian delegation to the assembly, together with the director Mattia Busti and the general secretary Antonio Brunori.
Elected as new directors of Pefc International: reconfirmed for another three years William Street, (director of the “Global Wood and Forestry Program” of the International Federation of wood builders and wood workers, Bwi); Hans Drieslma (managing director of Forestry Tasmania – Australia, www.forestrytas.com.au), for the position dedicated to experts in intergovernmental processes; Michael Proschek-Hauptmann (general director of “Umweltdachverband”-www.umweltdachverband.at), for the position dedicated to environmental NGOs; Proschek-Hauptmann of the federal environmental associations in Austria (around 34) is the second representative of the environmental sector, along with Sebastien Genest, honorary president of the “France Nature Environnement” (www.fne.asso.fr), the National Federation with about 3 thousand local and regional environmental organizations.
The Indonesia Forest certification Council was unanimously elected new member of Pefc International (37 °scheme).
Pefc Chain of Custody will change to facilitate the due diligence of the operators.
On 3 March 2013 will enter into force the Regulation (EU) 995/2010, better known as Eu Timber Regulation (Eutr), which will be applied to wood and all the products derived from it, including paper.
The delegation of the Pefc Italia has received a certificate of recognition from international directors for having achieved the third highest growth of Pefc certificates at international level.
