The sixtieth edition of Salone del Mobile is approaching fast, Italy’s most important event for the design and furniture industry, back with its proven recipe, at Rho Fieramilano from 7 to 12 June. It will be a meaningful edition, with celebrations for the 60th anniversary and a return to “normal”, the first “real” edition after the pandemic and the special “Supersalone” event that was held in 2021 on a smaller scale.
The anniversary comes in a “peculiar” moment, with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine impacting on the beginning of 2022, shuffling all the cards, and once again, forcing everyone to look for strong points to start over. “The Salone del Mobile has always been a catalyst for creativity, positivity and energy”, said Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. “It is a generator of beauty, inclusion and new opportunities. We have always been a place of dialogue and construction, in Milan and at the Shanghai and Moscow editions. Now, we are as shocked as everyone else by the war in Ukraine and believe even more in the importance of being a crossroads of cultures and styles open to the world”.
The 2022 edition will be rich of people and projects: almost 200,000 square meters of net exhibition surface and close to 2,100 exhibitors – including 600 designers at SaloneSatellite, the event dedicated to under-35 design talents from all over the world – and a 25 percent share (SaloneSatellite excluded) of international companies.
Seven exhibitions will run concurrently besides SaloneSatellite: the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and Workplace3.0 – divided into Classic, Design and xLux categories– will be complemented by EuroCucina and its collateral event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition. Making a return after its debut in 2019, S.Project is the exhibition dedicated to design products, home decor and technical solutions for interior design.
