Metro Ply Group has produced the first panel in its new particleboard plant built by Siempelkamp in Surat Thani. The company, one of the largest producers of wood-based panels in Southeast Asia and the largest chipboard manufacturer in the region, operates a total of four chipboard plants (three of which are produced by Siempelkamp) and fivemdf plants (two of which are produced by Siempelkamp), located in Sai Noi/Nontaburi, Kanchanaburi and now-as we mentioned-Surat Thani, Thailand’s eighth largest city.
The current project includes the forming and pressing line, including a “ContiRoll” in the 8 x 40.4-meter format, a cooling and stacking line, and an intermediate warehouse for panels.
Büttner, a subsidiary of Siempelkamp, supplied the dryer and energy plant, while Pallmann, the group’s specialized size reduction brand, supplied the size reduction machines. Siempelkamp’s Belgian subsidiary, Sicoplan, handled the design of the entire plant.
The particleboard plant was built from May 2022 as a greenfield project, with a completely new infrastructure.
