Custom tools designed to meet more and more advanced processing requirements. This is the mission of Fapil, the well-known Italian company based in Zogno, near Bergamo, specializing in the production of woodworking tools. Their business focus includes the processing of glulam beams for constructions.
“With multiple applications in modern constructions, a variegated and specialized production offer, excellent quality standards based on the most innovative manufacturing operations, and the constant improvement of gluing systems, the glulam beams are a natural, versatile, ergonomic, resistant, and competitive product”.
For cutting operations, Fapil offers large-diameter blades up to 800 millimeters, with custom solutions including low-noise blades ensuring the best cutting performance. Beam roughing and major machining are carried out with helical heads with staggered knives with cutting edges on the bottom, large tools with diameters up to 350 millimeters, tools made of light alloy so as not to compromise spindle motor mobility.
“Another family of roughing cutters used for the creation of slots or tenons includes tools with diameters up to 40 millimeters, made of solid hard metal or “Hss” with helical cutters. Tools for grooving operations are manufactured with staggered removable knives arranged with a helical layout and a central boring unit, with diameters from 30 millimeters to large diameters, custom solutions with cutting lengths up to more than 600 millimeters”.
The dovetail tools are employed for beam joints; they feature removable shaped knives with diameters from 50 to 200 millimeters and different working angles according to the requested operation.
Beam roughing or carving is performed using interchangeable knife cutters, while deep drilling is executed with integral “Hss” or coated “Hw” with diameters from 8 to 55 millimeters; finally, for drilling and bolt hole counterboring, Fapil offers composite bits.
