Ligna 2023 is set to be a show which breathes life and enthusiasm back into the wood industry after a few years during which live trade fairs took a break due to the pandemic. This edition therefore represents a long-awaited opportunity to return to the marketplace in person and unveil the key innovations that Cefla Finishing have developed at a venue where all the key players will gather.
As a leading brand for surface enhancement technologies, Cefla Finishing felt it would be a perfect occasion to demonstrate the solutions as they would be installed as part of a real finishing line. So the company is creating a live laboratory with five operating finishing lines, available for visitors to examine and judge in terms of efficiency and performance.
Cefla Finishing first participated in Ligna 50 years ago, exhibiting coating solutions for wood and its derivatives, an area the company has been catering for from the very start of its activities and throughout the second half of last century.
Today the company still shares the focus of Ligna bringing the most up-to-date technologies for wood. Spray, curtain, vacuum and roller coating technologies, drying solutions and excimer matting ovens, lamination and profile wrapping solutions, plus the latest industrial digital printing technologies for furniture, parquet and more. The Cefla Finishing vision statement reflects the company’s opinion that partnership is the key to our success and will be the hallmark of the approach to the market and its players. With 60 years’ experience, 300 active patents and around 15,000 machines installed worldwide, Cefla Finishing feel confident in claiming to be “the most trusted surface finishing partner, in everything you see”.
What to expect from Cefla Finishing? Visitors to the booth in Hannover will discover the key innovations that the company have launched over the last three years. These include vacuum coating solutions, spray coating robots with special devices to eliminate downtime, wrapping lines from our Düspohl brand based in Germany and much more.
Cefla Finishing invite everyone to enjoy a hands-on, close-up experience of several finishing machines running throughout the show, accompanied by the technology experts on the booth. In true Italian style, Cefla Finishing will welcome visitors from around the world in the hospitality area, where discussions with product specialists will examine all aspects of integrated finishing lines, as well as the tailored service offerings the company provide to ensure customers receive technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
Developing new technologies to obtain a patent is not what Cefla Finishing is after, focusing on bringing practical answers to everyday issues. This is a common denominator of the majority of the finishing innovations: each innovation should solve a recurring issue and lead to greater efficiency, lower costs and improved performance. Practical solutions are top priority. The following are a selection of the answers Cefla Finishing is showcasing at Ligna 2023.
Maximising uptime despite frequent colour changeovers. “Easy”, the oscillating spray coater with two arms, features an innovation which will enable companies to implement colour changeovers without stopping production. Managed by a special software and a system which involves the equipment’s mixing valves, colour changeover requires less than 10 seconds compared to the standard 2 to 3 minutes needed today. Considering standard shifts and regular colour changeovers, this new time-saving technology reduces downtime by approx. 45-60 minutes/day.
Incorporating different technologies into one seamless line. Cefla Finishing will showcase a line featuring more than one of the innovative technologies for raised panels such as kitchen cabinet doors. It will incorporate roller coating and spray coating equipment, as well as an excimer matting oven. The solution on show has been designed to save space, speed up production by reducing the number of steps, and includes technological solutions in favour of sustainability.
Using one technique to coat the edge and surface of a panel. One way to obtain the perfect match between a panel surface and the panel’s edge is to use the very same technology for both parts of the process, vacuum coating technology. Cefla Finishing stand will demonstrate this solution with two highly innovative machines built into a line featuring edge and surface coating equipment and sanding capabilities.
Simplifying process control with Industry 4.0 software solutions. In-house software solutions to support companies embracing Industry 4.0 are part of Cefla Finishing portfolio. These are created by a team of software experts and suitable for use on hybrid lines integrating our machines as well as third party equipment. Such tools help customers achieve efficiency, reliability, predictability, and provide software for remote monitoring as well as line simulation for layout planning.
Achieving high-quality profile wrapping, also with CPL surface material. The profile wrapping brand Düspohl will present a line made up of optimised standard equipment that reduces set-up times, simplifies handling and minimises downtime. Also, it will be equipped with special tools to wrap profiles with CPL surface material which even manage radiuses of up to 1 mm. Generating no more than a moderate investment, these smart solutions positively impact efficiency and output, and can be completed with optional solutions for special applications or for purposes linked to automation.
