Catas, the leading European testing lab in the wood-furniture sector, experienced this morning a really intense and exciting day: the laboratory welcomed a delegation from the Center for international, economic and technological cooperation (CIETC ), a body headed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The visit is part of an initiative launched by the United Nations agency Unido (United Nation Industrial Development Organisation), committed to promoting knowledge and skills on the topics of eco-design and new circular economy models in various industrial sectors, including furniture. The goal is to activate new partnerships with organizations, public or private, at an international level in some important target countries: Italy, Germany, Holland and Belgium.Catas was therefore called to “represent” Italy, in light of the expertise and excellence of the services it offers, distinctive competences that have long been widely recognized worldwide.
Product safety and durability and the new challenges in terms of sustainability and eco-design were the topics addressed during the day, which was opened with the welcome by Lucia Cristina Piu, Catas president. “Welcoming such a prestigious delegation to our laboratories and being part of a project of strong cultural and economic value is a source of great pride”, Piu commented. “The fifty-year history of Catas has allowed us to build a unique wealth of knowledge and determination, a heritage that has taken the laboratory beyond the needs of the local region from which it was born to become a real international reference point”.
