The cooperation between Siempelkamp and Metro-Ply is renewed for the sixth time . The Thai company has ordered an mdf panel production line from the German group (the fifth in Thailand). The plant-which will feature a “ContiRoll® Generation 9i” with a capacity of 450 thousand cubic meters per year-will be located in Surat Thani and will include several additional machines and equipment, with a 25 percent expansion of the existing particleboard lines at the Nonthaburi site.
For Metro-Ply, one of the largest producers of wood-based panels and particleboard in Southeast Asia, this is the second mdf plant built by Siempelkamp.
THE PLANT
In addition to the forming line and the latest “ContiRoll® Generation 9i” press, the plant features panel handling and intermediate storage. In addition, Siempelkamp subsidiary Büttner contributes an energy plant, fiber dryer and esp filter.
Pallmann, Siempelkamp’s size reduction specialist, supplies the complete chipping lines for mdf production. Pallmann and Büttner will also supply ten knife flakers and a drum dryer, respectively, to increase the capacity of the chipboard lines at the Nonthaburi site by 220 thousand cubic meters per year.
This order is the second mdf line Metro-Ply has placed with Siempelkamp, following an order for a new forming and pressing line ordered in late October 2019, which went into operation in April 2021 at the Kanchanburi site.
Assembly of the new mdf line is scheduled to begin by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
With this new mdf line, Metro-Ply now operates a total of six locations: Nonthaburi, Prachinburi, Surat Thani, Kanchanaburi, Rayong, Thailand, and Wangaratta, Australia.
